Norman Wright - Biography

Councillor Norman Wright has lived in Sussex for the past 25 years.  During this time, he owned a restaurant in Hove with his wife, and knows the region very well.

Norman has been a Conservative Councillor in two other towns before he moved to live in Lancing, and also had a successful career as a journalist, firstly as a reporter before becoming an editor for three newspapers. He has been married for fifteen years and has three grown up children.  He is fiercely against the downgrading of either Worthing or Southlands Hospitals, and actively campaigned against it.  He also campaigned against the Post Office closures which have had such an impact on the Adur area (especially Lancing and Sompting), as he believes that they are essential public services and are in many cases the centre of community life and mean so much to local people.

Norman is concerned as many local residents are, about the issue of anti-social behaviour and underage drinking, and is working with fellow councillors, Police and local residents to address this issue.

Norman is aware that some members of the community, particularly older people, ometimes feel insecure when they are out and about.  As well as a visible Police presence, good street lighting is important in making people feel safer, as as a local councillor, Norman will be able to take action on this issue.
